fionnualabradley:

One time I took this guy’s picture and he gave me his card and wrote on the back the time and date of an event he was going to be playing the Saxophone at (It was like March and the event was in August). I lost it while moving and was really upset.
Today, I received news that I was awarded a VMFA scholarship (along with the 8/16 that won for photography - f yeah!). David and I went to Waffle House to celebrate since five of the eight images I submitted were from that series (this one above included). It seemed fitting.
We were finished with our three-egg-breakfasts and ready to leave when a car with realtor information that I recognized pulled in to park. It was, you guessed it, this guy (^). He was older than I remembered. He had a lot of life in that roll of film. He didn’t really remember me right away but I reminded him and said I lost his card. He gave me another and I promised to mail him a print. I wanted to let him know that everyone loved that image of him and he may have very well helped me win 4 grand but it seemed too overwhelming an amount of information to divulge all at once.
I’ll save it for a letter that I’ll mail with his print…

I’m just so proud to know you and I feel like sometimes we just stumble into moments like these where everything just works out and all of the craziness and nonsense of life makes the experience so much sweeter.
This is also my favorite photo of this series so it makes the story even better
